"DJ and producer Martin Georgi presents Western pop hits in transformation through Asian appropriations of them. A fade in/fade out mix leads through well-known pop songs that have been adapted and arranged in Asia from the 1960s to the late 1980s. Local and traditional additions from the Asian region are incorporated, creating new hybrid pop versions of Western pop songs. With their musical intelligence, they have managed to generate a completely new audience worldwide – including in the western world. These are picks from ED LAMPKIN’s Asian groove crates he has acquired over the years of collecting. Many of them in this mix are from the stock of Baa Records based in Thailand.
These tracks range from pop, rock ,soul ,disco ,jazz funk ,and rare groove from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, S. Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Hard to choose from so many places and genres but these are tracks he keeps returning to in his listening sessions.
ED LAMPKIN started DJing through a local college/community radio (KDVS) playing and sharing music from other parts of the world that has been influenced by soul ,funk ,and disco sounds. ED has come a long way since then and have even been lucky enough to track down and own the music he would play at the station. He approached this set as a radio playlist, no actual mixing just honest and eclectic selection of music he enjoy. Collecting records and connecting with other people and cultures through music has been one the most fulfilling experiences in ED’s life and it's an honor to bring it back to the source.

Itch’s musical journey is inspired by the Singapore and Nusantara region “local exotic funk a-go-go” music from the ’60s to ’80s, such as A-Go-Go, Hala-Hala, Malay Funk, Chinese Disco, Pop Yeh Yeh, Asian City Pop, and other groovy exotic Asian music.  His vinyl DJ set specialises in Asian sound and introducing the forgotten local music gems to modern listeners, and brings back nostalgic vibes for old-timers.
Itch has appeared in various events in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Taipei and Tokyo.  Also, his mix was introduced in Singapore Community Radio, Mogra Radio, and Wordwide FM.
Currently, Itch is a resident DJ at Offtrack, and his regular event “NIGHTCAP” introduces Asian City Pop and Boogie.  Itch has been appeared in “Asian City Music Disc Guide” (Disk Union Japan), as a selector of Singapore and Malaysia music. And recently interviewed by the zine “Ayo Ke Disco: Boogie, Pop & Funk from the South China Sea (1974 - 88)” released from Soundway Records.

Baa Records is super excited to have Ultradiskopanorama as our special guest in this episode, contributing a vinyl set with music from Thailand & neighbors - Southeast Asian funk and disco gems from the 70's and 80's. Ultradiskopanorama is a long time record collector from Stockholm, Sweden, operating the channel Ultradiskopanorama at Youtube since 2010. In this set he has zoomed into Southeast Asian disco funk and psych from the last century, with a special focus on Thailand.
